According to the studies, most of the Iran is located on the fault line and it also has several inactive volcanoes and lots of hot springs all of which indicate that Iran has a high potential for producing geothermal energy.

Active Geothermal Power Plant

  • One of the biggest geothermal power plants in Iran is situated in Meshgin shahr Ardabil Province with a nominal capacity of 55MW.
